Film to Pen: An Experiment in Fan-Fiction (Spider-Man AU) Chapter Ten with Epilogue

Image
This is it, the end of my little experiment. It may not have gotten many views. Ah well what's a blog if you don't use it. Enjoy! P.S. a picture from chapter nine I forgot to upload. It was an early sketch before the whole story was flushed out. Chapter 10 Over the next week nothing happened and everything changed. The Smiths were given custody of a little month old baby and since we had always insisted we wanted to stay together Beni was sent to the Garcias with me. I secretly wished the Smiths choked on all the stinky diapers. On Wednesday a car wreck orphaned three siblings which the Garcias immediately said they would take in. Making things much more full. Wanda who had been there temporarily the longest was relocated to, get this, the Tiptons. The nice old couple that I dropped the stucco piece on the husband's head. I'm sure they'd prefer Wanda's quieter ways. Friday was the end of the school year. Hey and I had little time to talk, but when I thanked him...

Film to Pen: An Experiment in Fan-Fiction (Spider-Man AU) /Chapter 9

Big final two chapters. Probably should have split them more. Ah, well readership is up on all these posts so thanks to every clicker. Chapter 9 The way Mr. and Mrs. Smith look at me always makes me want to squirm out of my own skin. Getting out of the car I'm tackled by Beni. I squeeze him back and at once my own skin isn't so bad. We start for the gate to the backyard and the adults head inside, but not before Mrs. Smith sniffs at me and calls, "I hope you still remember the ground rules for these visits,".  "No cussing, stay in the backyard, no snacks, be in clear view of the back windows," I respond not missing a breath. She looks slightly annoyed I do remember them so she can't drill me again before she goes into the house. "So what's the surprise?" Beni asks me practically jumping up and down on me like a hungry puppy, "I have a new game on my phone I want to show you,". Looking around I spot a basketball and pick it up. ...

Film to Pen: An Experiment in Fan-Fiction [Spider-man AU] Chaper 8

Chapter 8 The next few weeks are a blur of the mundane. But I knew it was working when Ms. Wilt sent an email saying how pleased she was with my progress. Actually just hanging out with Hey is pretty fun although he insisted on fixing the web shooters even though I told him I wasn't going to live test them again. "Come on. I get your trying to stay under the radar, but could you at least help me endurance test the new formula?" He asks me for the millionth time. Rolling my eyes I ask in return, "How am I supposed to do that?".  "Just wear it in my room and shoot to the ceiling then hang there to see how long it holds,". Hey replies. "Will there be pillows under me?" He nods. "Then, yes sure,".  "Alright," Hey says while scribbling in a notebook, "110 pounds of tension on WF7. Timer starting now,". I reach up and grab ahold of the string. "Why do you care if this works or not?" I ask. "Because I d...

Film to Pen: An Experiment in Fan-Fiction [Spider-Man AU] Chapter 7

Chapter 7 I  come down to the kitchen to find breakfast and am greeted by a very nervous looking Hey. On the tv perching above a kitchen cabinet the news is playing. The perky tv host is gabbing on about Spider-Man and a knot forms in my gut as she say they'll replay the footage of last night's fight. Trying to be casual, and desprately hoping there was a much flashier fight later last night. I get a bowl out of the cupboard and start pouring cereal. My ears burn as I have to relive the humiliation of the previous night again. Apparently somebody was filming just after my ill fated swing all the way to Sandman getting away in the sewer. It's not great quality but it still tears up my insides as they discuss the dangers of trying to be a hero when you're only a kid and how they hope nobody else follows my terrible example. That hurts, I hadn't thought about other kids trying to do it, ones that could really get injured badly from trying to jump to a building. "...

Film to Pen: An Experiment in Fan-Fiction (Spider-Man AU) Chapter Six

Chapter 6 The next hour went by way too quickly. Even the next half hour of cleaning mats and bags ended sooner than I needed. Sensing my pent up energy Bruce asks, "All right what's eating you?".  I shrug, but I know I'll tell him something I always end up doing it. "I messed up," I stop finding my voice weak from emotion, "You know Beni is in a different home now,"  Bruce nods and stays quiet waiting for me to continue. "I can't see him this month. I was climbing and dropped a tile on my last guardian's head,". He whistles, "That is quite a mess. Even for you,". I shake my head, "I think Beni's mad at me too. He wants us to be together, and I do too. But I want all of us. I can't let go of the thought that maybe something will change. Maybe dad will take us back. Beni is all ready for a new family when I just want the old one,". Bruce sets down the rag he was using and looks me in the eye, "Jade...

Film to Pen: An Experiment in Fan-fiction (Spiderman AU) Chapter Five

While Hey thought he could make some webshooters, we decided to search the internet first for what people thought was the web formula Spider-Man uses. "We can get the twins to help. They are always trying new slime. Besides if I know what we're dealing with it will be easier to make the ejection mechanisms,".  "One point to robo nerd! Also I'm going to have to step up my kickboxing practice. You know if I'm going to beat the crap out of baddies. I could use a sparring partner…".  "No way, I told you I'm a nerd not a jock, now let's go find the twins,". I shrug as we leave the bedroom. After an hour of different concoctions and sticky slime, probably stuck in my liver as well as my hair, Hey and I tweak a formula we think has promise. Sally, or maybe it's Sadie, is plopping blobs of failed formula on nice glass plates and serving it to Sadie (Sally?) and the toddler Harper who was coming dangerously close to actually eating the stu...

Film to Pen: An Experiment in Fan-fiction [Spider-Man AU BACKSTORY]

Image
Sorry for the cliffhanger folks, and now the backstory. Backstory My real name is actually Jadin May Parker. My parents were-are Mary Jane Parker and - "Like that new movie star?" Hey asks. Truly surprised I look down at him, "What?".  "Mary Jane something, the new star of that new movie about the talent show winner. Seriously you haven't heard about it?". I shake my head. "The Great Morning America channel has been promoting her interview and performance like nonstop all month. It'll be here at Times Square in a couple a weeks?". Shaking my head I decide to continue without further comment. And my dad is Peter Parker. They were high school sweet hearts who got married in college. But Mom ended up dropping out after Beni and I came along. I can remember the night he was born, Dad was gone again. He always seemed to work extra hours. So Mom left to catch a taxi to the hospital telling me to stay at the apartment saying she'd call my Gr...

Film to Pen: An Experiment in Fan fiction (Spider-Man AU) Chapter 4

Image
Guess I scared the bots off with my last post, so Thanks those who stayed you know who you are. Unless your the last bot standing, then you don't know anything. Chapter 4 Later that night I was on the floor of my room trying to see how much I had lost from my Spider-Man file. Ten articles, four photos, and one of my first maps of Spider-Man activity. It was just red dots for a sighting, now my most recent map was not only color coordinated by month but squares meant a fight and circles meant swing by sightings etc. Suddenly the door knob turned. I jump up grabbing the guard rail to the top bunk intending to lay low on the mattress, but instead I keep going, hitting the ceiling and sticking. Meanwhile before I can fully process what just happened Hey enters the room, probably wanting to make sure I was fine after everything today. He seemed nice, but I learned long ago those were the ones you had to watch for. I could feel every hair in my scalp as my braid hung down just brushing h...

Film to Pen: A Fan-Fiction Experiment (Spider-Man AU) Chapter 3

Thank you all four readers, at this rate I should have 12 readers by the last chapter. Most of which should hopefully not all be bots ;{) Chapter 3 The next morning I got ready for another new school. My record for shortest time spent at a new school was half a day. In the fourth grade I got a teacher to quit and was kicked out when I brought a spider's egg sack to class and it hatched all over his desk when he confiscated my pencil bag for coloring during lecture. Apparently he was a humongous arachnophobe . I didn't have any books for this school yet so I packed my backpack with only a notebook (for doodling), my personal project folder, and a sack lunch Paco handed out to all us kids as we left. The twins turned right at the corner and I followed Wanda and Hey to the left and presumably to the high school. Or not, sometimes other kids in group homes had lead me off wrong roads then ditched me so I'd be late. Or just lost, with some of them it was hard to tell. I never di...

Film to Pen: An Experiment in Fan-Fiction (Spider-man AU) Chapter Two.

Thank you all three of you for reading Chapter One. It's better then none. ;{) So without further chatter here's Chapter Two. (Also I don't have a lot of doodles for it, bit if one corresponds with a chapter I'll put it at the end) Chapter Two The new house is bigger than the Tipton's, but not by much. At least the porch isn't covered with any stucco. A short woman opens the front door with a big smile on her face, "Welcome, Bienviendos! Come in, come in. We are so excited to have you staying with us,". Inside there's a staircase full of kids to greet me. It leads up to what I assume is the second level of the house. The kids are arranged by height, a boy easily two feet taller than the woman who greet me is at the top of the stairs. He has a thick mohawk and is messing with what looks like a jumble of wires and a plyers. The step under him is a girl who looks older at least from what I can see of her beneath the curtain of her light hair. Below he...
